Gobbler Chestnut

The Gobbler Chestnut (Mollissima x Dentata) was developed similar to the Dunstan as well, but with a dime to nickel size nut that is perfect for the turkey as well as deer. The turkey will come from miles away to get a taste of the seed. These will begin to drop their seed in September into October. Perfect for the fall archery season in most states.

Soil Types: Sandy-Sandy Loam-Loam-Sandy Clay. Avoid Heavy Clay or Wet Areas

Soil Conditions: Well drained to dry

Growth Rates: Fast

Maturity Height: 35-40 Feet

Production Starts: 3-5 Years (requires another for cross pollination)
