About the Schuettes Oak:
This hybrid is a cross between Swamp White Oak and Bur Oak. My son Tyler found this hybrid growing near an almost pure stand of Swamp White Oaks. The most interesting point about this find is that there were many young acorn-bearing trees all around the parent tree. This tells me that the resulting seedlings all have a high degree of hybrid vigor, which is extremely important when it comes to producing acorns at an early age. I haven’t found any swamp hybrid oaks to pick from that are better than this one. If you have wet areas on your property, this is the oak you will want to plant. Additionally, this hybrid has performed in upland soils as well. An excellent choice for someone with a mix of high and low ground.
