About Elderberry:

Elderberry is a large suckering shrub excellent for wildlife habitat improvement.  Elderberry takes a beating (browse tolerant) and keeps on ticking. Great for low areas where soil is to moist for fruit trees and berries are the next best thing. There is lots of talk about deer beds in the Whitetail community and some of the components needed for deer beds are this 8-12 foot overhead canopy that Elderberry provides! It’s ability to grow in filtered light and edges, makes this plant a good choice for both cover and a food source. Fruit makes great jelly or wine.
